At this cost, it takes a little over six months for you to get a full return on the investment compared with buying the subscription, so the risk factor isn't super high here. But versions of Stack's deal have been running for more than a year - the one we bought in early 2022, for instance, still works fine. To that last point: Though this is listed as a "lifetime license" - that is, the lifetime of the computer you installed it on - it's worth noting there's always a risk that Microsoft could terminate the license. And while the apps should continue to work as long as your computer does, Microsoft's support for this version of Office ends on Oct. Spark interesting discussions directly in your Microsoft Teams conversations. You won't get any OneDrive Cloud Storage, nor will you get the fancy new cloud-based AI features like Microsoft Copilot. In powerpoint, go to Help > Check for Updates. Spark exciting conversations directly from your PowerPoint slide deck. Likewise, you're passing up on other benefits you'd get as a 365 subscriber. First, this key is good only for a single computer, so you won't be able to install it on various machines in your home, and if your current computer happens to die, you could run into a snag when trying to transfer it. Now, a deal this good comes with some caveats. (Separately - and notably - Apple users should note that Outlook is now a free app for the Mac.) There's a free online version of Microsoft Office that you can use as well, but it isn't nearly as feature complete. StackSocial's deal is a great bargain when compared with the online Microsoft 365 subscription suite that starts at $7 a month or $70 a year for individuals. Better yet, this license, which is available for either Windows or Mac, is a one-time purchase that grants you unlimited access with no recurring charges. But right now, StackSocial is offering a chance to grab a Microsoft Office 2021 license for just $30, around 88% off its usual price. The Office apps available from the Mac App Store provide the very latest. And while you've probably used Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook before, the Office apps aren't always included with your computer purchase and getting access on your own may cost more than you think.Īssuming the barebones online freebie version of Office won't work for you (see below), your options essentially boil down to paying a rolling monthly or yearly fee for a Microsoft 365 subscription or punting for a one-time Office license, which typically costs as much as $430 with the full panoply of apps. We'll see in this video, Open the Mac App Store and download apps. Design impactful slides with the help of Designer in PowerPoint. Used by businesses, schools and individuals around the globe, Office is the industry standard when it comes to word processing, spreadsheets, mail and more. Abilities of significance are things like gymnastics, swimming, science/engineering, biology, and cartography. Learned This could go on for a while Sally lived in the palace for nearly six years, and they teach those royals everything. Sally's mind is naturally left-brain oriented, and even from a young age her critical thinking skills were honed by her interest in academics. Her greatest attribute, however, is easily her intellect. Additionally, she's very flexible (though by no means a contortionist), and her slender build allows her to fit through some tight squeezes. While she doesn't necessarily have an exceptional amount of physical strength, Sally's body is extremely athletically fit (largely due to favoring gymnastics as a child) this allows her to pack a considerable punch when preceded by a momentum-building maneuver. Abilities Physical As the child of both a squirrel and a chipmunk, Sally naturally has an excellent sense of balance, and can climb almost any textured surface. As for Sonic… Well, Sally's never really hidden her affectionate feelings for him in terms of body language, yet at the same time she smirkingly reminds him that she is "not his girl" and isn't afraid to pummel him if he's being a doof. She has especially close bonds with Tails, whom she regards as somewhere between a little brother and a son, and Bunnie, whom she feels is like the sister she never had. She cares deeply for her friends, and considers the safety of every person in her kingdom her own personal responsibility. Despite her consistently high stress levels, however, the princess is generally a happy person and able to keep a positive frame of mind in most situations. To help herself deal with the stress, Sally spends a lot of time writing in her journals. She's not necessarily a private person, but she still bottles many of her feelings, in the mindset that she needs to be strong for those around her. With the weight of the war and the fate of her citizens constantly on her shoulders, Sally allows herself no room for error, and is excruciatingly hard on herself should one ever occur. Sally, as an appreciative person by nature, tends to be very forgiving of those around her for their mistakes, and instead praises the effort they put forth - that is, of course, unless the folly is her own. She rarely expresses extreme emotion in front of others, save for when she's angry with either Sonic or herself. Sally is by no means stiff, but clearly tries to keep formality first at all times. Still, upon further examination, the fact that she was raised as a noble becomes more clear, as her general behavior is best described as "diplomatic". She does not hold herself on any kind of pedestal because of her lineage, and it frequently embarrasses her when those around her do so. Sally makes a conscious effort to keep her opinions unbiased and to respect all parties involved in any given situation. Although she had a bossiness problem as a child, as she matured the Acorn Princess grew into a humble, cooperative, and empathetic young woman. To-earth style of presenting herself and relating to those around her. Hobbies/Talents: Archeology, inventing, teaching and playing with Tails, playing Tetris on Nicole, reading, writing in her journals, botany (and science in general, really). ĭislikes: Robotnik, Antoine, pollution, childishness from anyone not a child, recklessness, obnoxiousness, special treatment because of her royal background. Nicknames: Sal (from Sonic),Sally-Girl (from Bunnie),Bean (from King Acorn)įreedom Fighters Likes: Instrumental music, the colour pink, sunny days, solving puzzles, "girls talk" time with Bunnie,Sonic. Until then, I had no idea that he and the other teachers would have lost everything if the case had gone the other way.” The journalist Nat Hentoff, who followed Brennan’s work closely, wrote that “He may have seen hardly any of the litigants before him, but he searched for a sense of them in the cases that reached him.” Now, watching the interview with Keyishian, he said: “It was the first time I had seen him. Justice Brennan watched that program and was fascinated to see the actual person behind the name on his decisions. I tracked Keyishian down and interviewed him. Justice Brennan ruled that the loyalty oath and other anti-subversive state statutes violated First Amendment protections of academic freedom. Another concerned a case he had heard back in 1967 involving a teacher named Harry Keyishian, who had been fired because he would not sign a New York State loyalty oath. My interview with him was one of 12 episodes in that series on the Constitution. How I wish he were here now - and still on the Court! That was 1987 - before the era of cyberspace and the maximum surveillance state that grows topsy-turvy with every administration. Science has done things that, as I understand it, make it possible through these drapes and those windows to get something in here that takes down what we’re talking about.” When he mentioned that modern science may be creating “a Frankenstein,” I asked, “How so?” He looked around the chamber and replied: “The very conversation we’re now having can be overheard. Although he said he never took personally the resentment and anger directed at him, he did subsequently reveal that his own mother had told him she always liked his opinions when he was on the New Jersey court but wondered, now that he was on the Supreme Court, “Why can’t you do it the same way?” His answer: “We have to discharge our responsibility to enforce the rights in favor of minorities, whatever the majority reaction may be.”Īlthough a liberal, he worried about the looming size of government. Those decisions brought a storm of protest from across the country. Sullivan in particular, the defense of a free press. I met Justice Brennan in 1987 when I was creating a series for public television called In Search of the Constitution, celebrating the bicentennial of our founding document.īy then he had served on the court longer than any of his colleagues and had written close to 500 majority opinions, many of them addressing fundamental questions of equality, voting rights, school segregation, and, in New York Times v. Thank you for that generous introduction, Michael thanks to all of you for your presence tonight and your warm welcome and thanks to the Brennan Center for honoring the legacy of Justice William Brennan by bearing witness to democracy as a way of life, requiring daily vigilance and commitment. The Eastern Pacific hurricane season officially begins May 15. (MORE: What's Typically The Busiest Three Months For Tornadoes ) May over the last four years illustrates this, since it had 510 twisters in 2019 and then just 126 in 2020. Of course, these are averages and the actual tornadic outcome can vary in any given year. That's considerably higher than April and June, which, on average, are the second (197) and third (187) busiest months for twisters, respectively. Numerous tornado and severe weather outbreaks have occurred in May.īased on data from 2001 to 2021, the average number of May tornadoes in the U.S. Violent tornadoes are more likely this time of year. In May, the area where these ingredients have the highest chance to come together is from Texas to Iowa. The setup for severe thunderstorms typically includes disturbances in the jet stream pushing out of the Rockies and into the Plains, interacting with warm air and ample moisture. This is the time of year when ingredients for severe thunderstorms come together most often. In most years, May is when the peak of tornado activity occurs in the United States. For many, warmer temperatures are one of the month's highlights as the first signs of summer emerge.īelow, we take a look at five changes that typically occur in the weather in May. The month's tornadic reputation is one of the first weather concerns that comes to mind, but the tropics also have to be watched. May ushers in several notable changes in the nation's weather compared to earlier in the spring. Then on the “Second Spin” layer, we added another trigger to Show the “ First Spin” layer when the Entrance animation on the object (“spinning gear”) completes. On the “First Spin” layer, we added a trigger to Show the “ Second Spin” layer when the Entrance animation on the object (“spinning gear”) completes. For our example, we set it to “ when the timeline reaches time 1s. Step 5: We added a trigger on the base layer to Show the layer “ First Spin” at the desired point. Tip : If the spinning object is also on the base layer, you can hide its visibility on the other layers by expanding the Base Layer Objects and “poke out the eyeball” next to the object. Step 4: We duplicated this layer and renamed it “Second Spin” for clarity. Step 3: Next, we applied a Spin entrance animation to the object, and adjusted the animation duration to 10 seconds. Step 2: T hen, we created a layer (named “First Spin”) and pasted the object where we wanted it to be on the slide. Step 1: First, we isolated the object that we wanted to animate or loop (which is the object we named “gear”). Let’s shine a light o n how we came up with this effect! This method for creating custom emphasis combines layers, triggers, and animation. Step 3: Finally, preview your project and adjust the animation duration as needed to make it as flashy as you want! Looping AnimationĪnother show-stopping technique is to create a “looping animation.” In the following example, one gear stands out from the others by spinning continuously. Note: Hidden is a built-in state, so you don’t need to build it! The second trigger changes the state of the object to Normal when the Exit animation completes.
When I first saw the EA conference trailer, I thought this game would just try to emulate Fortnite‘s third-person shooting gameplay with some Overwatch heroes, but that’s not the case. The best thing about Rocket Arena, without a doubt, is its gameplay. Hunting down RocketBots with teammates ended up being my favorite mode. This ended up being my favorite mode in the entire game due to the sheer chaos that these matches end up being, as the game throws way more than three bots at you at once. If you’re not in the mood to deal with human opponents, there’s also a fantastic mode in which your team of heroes has to destroy thirty bots, with surprisingly decent AI, in five minutes or less, all while having a limited amount of lives to share among the three of you. You can play social, ranked (do it now while everyone still sucks at the game!), or private matches, without the need of extra cash to set them up. There’s your run-of-the-mill team deathmatch, but also more varied scenarios like king-of-the-hill, and even a weird but unsurprisingly addictive football game, in which the objective is to grab a bomb-shaped ball in the center of the field and carry it to the rival team’s goal. Those small battlefields are clearly inspired by classic shooters like Unreal and Quake, where there’s little to no place to hide and there’s always something going on. The sole fact that this isn’t a battle royale is already enough to earn my attention. In Rocket Arena, you play as one out of ten different heroes/characters in 3v3 third-person battle arena. Boone is not a very good character, but he has this adorable pterodactyl companion… However, most people pick a streaming service and stick with it for years and years. Amazon Music has also gone up in price, and several services have added tens of millions of songs to their catalogs since we lasted updated this article in February 2022. Most of them have free tiers, but the experience improves if you subscribe and pay a monthly fee. The things that separate streaming services today are the quality of music discovery-whether it’s based on algorithms or human curation-the user experience on desktop and mobile apps, what devices you can use them with, and their sound quality. All these services’ libraries pretty much mirror each other, with tens of millions of songs both popular and obscure. These days, it’s more about the user interface than catalog choice. For example, Taylor Swift might have been on Apple Music but not on Spotify Tidal was originally weighted toward hip-hop. Music fans are streaming more music and other digital audio content than ever and judging by the most recent developments in other parts of the media and entertainment landscape, the streaming wave is unlikely to recede any time soon.Picking a music streaming service used to feel like choosing a sports team. And even though the overall growth in music streaming revenue has slowed since the mid-2010s, the figure is still climbing at a double-digit rate each year. This trend is already visible today, as most major players are vividly expanding operations in previously untapped regions with potential for subscriber and revenue growth. Over the next few years, both new and established audio streaming services are expected to add millions of subscribers but considering that markets such as the United States have already reached a certain level of subscriber maturity, there will likely be some shifts in regional focus. Streaming will undoubtedly remain the key driver of growth for the global music industry. Has music streaming reached its saturation point? After a failed IPO in 2015, the French streaming service announced its second attempt at going public by merging with special purpose acquisition company I2PO in early 2022. One European competitor that still has a long way to go to match these milestones but nevertheless made international news headlines in recent months is Deezer. According to the company’s latest filings, the number of Spotify premium subscribers reached a record 182 million users in early 2022, while revenues from its paid and ad-supported streaming models also peaked at nearly 9.67 billion euros. Data showed that Spotify remains the most popular music streaming provider worldwide, accounting for over 30 percent of all streaming subscribers and outperforming its closest competitors, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tencent Music. While various smaller providers have amassed impressive user bases in their respective markets over the years, the global streaming landscape continues to be dominated by a handful of behemoths. Consumers can choose from an ever-expanding catalog of free and paid music streaming services. They don't always yield usable results, but most of the time, they do, if you tweak enough.A list of the ten “melody assistants” Benn reviews on Part II, arranged with links, least expensive to most. Including the other stuff mentioned above (CodeFN42, etc), there are a ton of options. Harvest by Harvest Plugins - I tried Harvest Mini (the free one) a while ago. PhraseBox by Venomode - doesn't seem like a "melody" generator, but breaks up chords into interesting arpeggios. AudioModern Riffer - know little about it, too. Some people think it's a joke but I've heard good things. EvaBeat Melody Sauce - know little about it. Sugar Bytes Thesys - not always good results with the random/dice roll stuff, and it doesn't have a random "step mute" thing, but you can get some cool results from this, too. Maschine and its "Variations" mode - not always good results, but a one-button press (from Maschine Jam or Maschine MK3) and you can have some usable melodies. Works similarly to MIDI Madness 3 and others. Reaper and MIDI Ex Machina by Rob - humble Reaper script, but insanely powerful. Sundog Song Studio / Melodic Flow (Feel Your Sound) - this guy's humble software is very powerful and often yields really good results. Orb / Hexachords - have not used at all but it seems like Captain Plugins, the off-line version. But, usually good results, and in my opinion, worth the asking price (it's only $20 per plugin). Needs an internet connection the whole time you're using it (that's annoying). Midi Madness 3 - depending on the constraints, you can either come up with cool-sounding stuff or terrible. You can play segments of midi files, which is really nice, but it's not "generating". reMIDI - not a "generator" so much, as a "midi file chopper". Interface is hard to read, but it's cool. It's just a clunky program, and always has been. But sometimes you can get decent results. And a lot of the stuff is very, very cheesy. But, not all of the Melodists even work, I've found. But, the Melodist can yield some decent results after you put your own chord progression in. Too many things do too many things, and there are like 5 different ways to do something in every menu. Plus, I've found him to be a real asshole on his forum, and in emails. I don't get it at all, and he basically priced himself out of the public eye. Synfire / Harmony Navigator - The first is ridiculously overpriced, and I think only the damn developer knows how to use it, because I couldn't figure out how to use Harmony Navigator at all, over the years, and Synfire is like reading ancient text. This thing can be confusing to use but usually yields pretty nice results. Melodya - the Phrase/Melody generator part of RapidComposer, as a separate plugin. There's nothing like it, and nothing as powerful. While I see the program on the sister site, I feel that it's worth the asking price, considering everything it does. This software used to crash constantly but it has been greatly stabilized over the years. Long before Captain Plugins did, and I feel that they stole his code and ideas. RapidComposer - been a fan of this developer's work for a number of years. Scaler 2- great for chord progressions/theory knowledge and the Performances are pretty useful, but the types of things that everyone's going to use in their productions, so I'd avoid the Performances mostly, but this is a great idea tool, and cheap. Well that went philosophical, anyway u get the point. It lacks features, a modern interface, and doesn't produce the best results at acceptable speeds. However, today, Restoration lags far behind the competition. Do you need such extensive support for lesser-known file formats? Then, maybe the app's higher price (compared to competitors like Disk Drill) will be worth it.
